The Real Estate (Regulation and development) Act, 2016 was passed by Parliament and all the 92 sections of the Act came into effect from 1st May, 2017. Matrimonial Disputes - With changing times, matrimonial disputes are on rise. Public Interest Litigation (PIL) means litigation for the protection of the public interest. Generally PILs are not filed by the aggrieved party but by an individual or by court itself.
Importance of PIL :
Public interest litigation gives a wider description to the right to equality, life and personality which is guaranteed under part III of the Constitution of India.
It also functions as an effective instrument for changes in the society or social welfare.
Through public interest litigation, any public or person can seek remedy on behalf of the oppressed class by introducing a PIL.

In order to promote and protect the rights and interests of consumers, quasi judicial machinery is sought to be set up at district, state and central levels. These quasi judicial bodies have to observe the principles of natural justice and have been empowered to give reliefs, of specific nature and also to impose penalties for non compliance of the orders given by such bodies.
